Hulu series ‘Reasonable Doubt’ stars Emayatzy Corinealdi as a high-powered defense attorney who loves criminals!

An exciting new legal drama is hitting Hulu, and “Scandal” star Kerry Washington is behind it.

Washington is the co-executive producer and co-director of Reasonable Doubt. The series stars Emayatzy Corinealdi as a high-ranking defense attorney who loves criminals.

“She’s balancing her marriage, her children, and a murder trial,” Washington explained of the main character being played by Corinaldi. “It’s amazing. The cast was great. I love this show. It’s really impressive. I directed and produced it.”

Corinealdi plays Jax Stewart, a fierce lawyer who manipulates her turbulent marriage, motherhood, and being a good friend.

“This isn’t just an ordinary legal drama, it’s not your typical family drama at all,” Corinaldi said.

Speaking to On the Red Carpet, Corinealdi said fans will hook up with the series because they will “see themselves, and they will see their friends, family and neighbors on screen.”

The series also stars McKinley Freeman as Jax’s husband and Michael Ealy as one of her imprisoned clients. Ramleh Muhammad serves as a creator, co-executive producer and presenter, leading the Black Chamber of Authors. Additionally, every episode is directed by black directors.

The series is the first written drama from Onyx Collective and premieres September 27 on Hulu.

“Onyx is this all-new platform within Hulu where we tell stories led by artists of color,” Washington explained.

“I’m proud of this, I’m part of this,” Washington added. “Artists tell stories about our experiences with people of color that will resonate around the world.”

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
